How it works
A stack of layers, each with one job.
Phantom Fortified is built from independent layers, so if one is beaten the others are still standing. Here is what each layer does, in plain words. How they work inside is private.
The layers
The front door
Every request has to be signed, fresh and in the shape we expect. Anything that is not is turned away before it can touch anything of value.
Behavior watching
It looks at patterns over time: a large amount split into many small ones, odd timing, a person who is being hurried or pressured.
The human check
A risky transfer is held and a person has to confirm it. If the confirmation is missing or unclear, the money does not move.
Stop when unsure
When the system cannot tell, it stops. A pause costs a few minutes. A wrong release can cost everything.
The record
Every important decision is written to an append-only record. Entries can be added, but an old one cannot be rewritten without it showing.
Receipts anyone can check
Any entry can come with a one-page signed receipt. Anyone can check it for free in a web browser, without calling us. Try the checker.
One transfer, step by step
This is a made-up illustration, not a customer story. No real transfer is shown.
- A large transfer request arrives. It asks to send $25,000 from an account that usually sends a few hundred dollars.
- The front door checks it. Is it signed, fresh and well formed? Requests that fail never go further.
- Behavior watching raises a flag. The amount is far outside this account's normal pattern.
- The transfer is held, not sent. A person on the account is contacted and asked to confirm.
- The person confirms, or does not. If there is no clear yes, the transfer stays frozen.
- The decision is recorded. Either way, it goes into the append-only record, and a receipt can be issued for it.
What we do not publish
We do not publish how the layers work inside, what limits they use, or how keys are handled. That keeps attackers guessing and protects our work. If you are a serious buyer, partner or funder, we will talk in detail under a signed confidentiality agreement.
